Do You Know Him

It is just about Christmas.  It is the day we celebrate the Savior’s birth.  The question I have for all is:  Do you know Him?  Hear me clearly I am not asking do you know of Him or do you know about Him?  I am asking do you know Him.  Have you developed a close personal relationship with Him?

It is great to study about His life and read His words.  If you have truly repented and believe, you are saved, praise God.  Get to know Him personally; He is after all, your personal savior.

You say I go to church and sing His praises and I fellowship with other believers.  I teach Sunday school or I feed the poor.  Wonderful I applaud you for doing all that, but do you know Him?

Maybe you are a person who believes in God but says I am not a religious person.  I don’t need to follow all those rituals to be close to God.  Great I am not a religious person either and I don’t like rituals for the sake of tradition and just going through the motions.  So are you close to Him or are those just words to satisfy yourself or make me go away?  How is it working?  Do you know Him?

You say I pray all the time.  I am always praying about something.  Great He loves to hear from us.  Are those prayers getting you closer to Him?  Are you getting to know Him or are you just making requests?  Do you know Him?

You need to ask the question of yourself:  Do I really know Him?  Am I working on building a rich personal relationship with Him?

So what am I getting at?  I desire for myself and for you to truly know God.  Know Him as your best friend.  I desire that you and I have a personal constant relationship with Him.

What does that look or feel like?  Do you share everything with Him?  Hey Lord did you see what my daughter did today; it was amazing, I am so proud of her.  Ask for help on anything you are doing.  I sometimes ask for help in a computer program I am working on.  Oh, be sure to thank Him when the two of you figure it out.

I like to ask Him for wisdom when I am in a meeting; it always works and I am acknowledging His presence in the meeting.  When I acknowledge Him I always feel His presence.  Maybe you just had a close call and just missed a traffic accident.  Acknowledge His hand in it and thank Him.  Not to be gross but when you burp and no one else is around do you say ‘excuse me Lord’, because He is around.  Keep on acknowledging His presence.

Ho do you know your relationship is growing?  I feel His presence more and more.  When I slip I feel it a little less.  When I start feeling less I really notice it.  The closer I get the more peace I have.  The closer I get the more I feel the emptiness when I allow the relationship to fade.

I hear Him speaking to me through my thoughts, His word and others.  It is always clear when I am close to Him.  He always has something to lift me when I get down.   One thing that has been happening lately is if I am away from my desk and thinking about something that is getting me down I get lifted as soon as I get back to my desk.  You see I have a screen saver with rotating pictures.  The one that has been there lately when I am going through something is a picture of my book ‘In The Hands Of The Father’.  He is always letting me know I am in His hands.

Get to know Him and He will always be there for you.  Ask Him to guide you in your responses in all situations and He will.  A friend always wants to be there for you.  Let Him be your best friend.

Do you see Him in all His creation and all His children?  Do you see the pain in others lives?  Do you show His love without effort, even when your are misunderstood?  He was misunderstood after all.

Get to know Him and all those questions can be yes, as long as you keep building that relationship.  Converse with Him, talk about everything with the Lord and Savior.

Do you know Him?  I hope so, it is so amazing.
