Where Are Our Leaders Getting Counsel And Is It Wise

You can't bring your faith into politics. You hear that all the time. People have rights and you can't put your views on others. Are the right? Of course you can't make others believe what you do. But is a politician wrong to speak about what is right and wrong? Is it wrong for a politician to act in a godly way? Is it wrong for a leader to be humble and make wise choices?

There is a clear example of this in the book of Daniel in the bible. Daniel is called in by Nebuchadnezzar to interpret his dream. Daniel's interpretation was "This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the Most High, which has come upon my lord the king; that you be driven away from mankind, and your dwelling place be with the beasts of the field , and you be given grass to eat like cattle and be drenched with the dew of heaven; and seven periods of time will pass over you, until you recognize that the Most High is ruler over the realm of mankind, and bestows it on whomever He wishes. And in that it was commanded to leave the stump with the roots of the tree, your kingdom will be assured to you after you recognize that it is Heaven that rules." Daniel 4:24-26

Daniel advised the king to "break away from your sins by doing righteousness, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor, in case there may be a prolonging of your prosperity." Daniel 4:27

Nebuchadnezzar took Daniel's advise and his prosperity was prolonged. But twelve months later he was walking on the roof of his royal palace and reflected and said "Is this not Babylon the great, which I myself have built as a royal residence by the might of my power and for the glory of my majesty?" Daniel 4:30. While the words were still in his mouth, the king was judged and his sovereignty was removed from him.

After the period of time passed and his reasoning returned to him and his kingdom was restored to him, the king stated "now I Nebuchadnezzar praise, exalt and honor the King of heaven, for all His works are true and HIs ways just, and He is able to humble those who walk in pride." Daniel 4:37

In Daniel chapter 5 we see that Nebuchadnezzar's son Belshazzar did not learn from his father's lesson. Read and see about the writing on the wall and the destruction of the kingdom. Read and learn, don't wait for the writing on the wall in your life.

It is clear, if you are a believer you must listen to the counsel of the Lord. No matter what your position is you are to act in accordance with His will. Live your life that way, make all your decisions that way. Speak the truth always. Don't be afraid of stating the basis of your decisions.

If you are not a believer, why would you be against a political leader who leads based on moral values? Why would you be against someone who wants the best for the people of this nation? Why would you want someone who goes against their own convictions, how could you trust that person?
If you don't like moral values and want only decisions that please your selfish needs, I cannot make a case for you. I understand your issues and cannot give you an argument that will work for you.

We must be people of reason and do what is right. If a political leader is doing what is best for our nation, why would one be opposed because of their faith. Isn't it better to have someone in office that is doing the right thing, even if you do not accept their belief system. You can ignore their statements of faith if you wish.

To those who believe, get your faith right. Get that relationship with God right so you will know the right thing to do in all situations. Act like followers of Christ; be the example that draws others to Him. It won't be easy; those who hate Him will hate you, but stand tall and He will be with you. Know though it is to be His will not ours that is done. Stand firm and do the right thing. Do not be afraid to speak your faith, you have the constitutional right. Praise God everywhere you go and in all that you do.
